Hungary experienced a 3.6% increase in construction output in May 2025 compared to the same month the previous year, marking the first growth after a period of eleven straight months of decline. This uptick followed a 0.5% decrease recorded in April. The primary catalyst for this positive development was a robust expansion in civil engineering projects, which surged by 26%, building on a 6.5% rise in April. Conversely, building construction continued to weaken, experiencing a further decline of 9.3% after dropping by 5.7% in the preceding month. On a seasonally adjusted basis, construction output rose by 2.5% in May, a deceleration from the 5.4% increase observed in April.
