The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index, an indicator of rates for transporting dry commodities, rose for a third consecutive session on Monday. It increased by 7.2%, reaching a peak not seen since June 18, at 1,783 points, driven by widespread gains across all vessel categories. Specifically, the capesize index, which typically hauls 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, surged for the third straight day, climbing 12.5% to 2,367 points. Similarly, the panamax index, responsible for transporting 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, went up by 4.8% to 1,949 points, marking its highest level since June 18 of the previous year. The supramax index, representing smaller vessels, also increased by 2.1% to 1,244 points.
