Argentina Inflation Slightly Rebounds

In June 2025, Argentina experienced a 1.6% monthly increase in consumer prices, representing a slight rise from May's 1.5%, the lowest monthly inflation rate since May 2020, albeit lower than the anticipated 1.9%. The uptick was notable in sectors such as food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.6% compared to 0.5% in May), transportation (1.6% up from 0.4%), education (rising from 1.9% to 3.7%), and housing and utilities (3.4% compared to 2.4%). Conversely, a deceleration was observed in clothing and footwear (down to 0.5% from 0.9%), restaurants and hotels (from 3.0% to 2.1%), communications (dropping to 1.8% from 4.1%), and health (down to 2.2% from 2.7%). When viewed year-over-year, consumer prices increased by 39.4%, indicating a 12-month trend of disinflation and marking the smallest yearly rise since March 2021, down from May's 43.5% and slightly below the expected 39.8%.
