In June 2025, new home prices in China's 70 cities experienced a 3.2% year-over-year decline, easing from the 3.5% drop reported in the previous month. This indicates the 24th month of continuous decline, though it represents the slowest contraction rate since April 2024. This trend reflects ongoing efforts by Beijing to address the enduring slump in the property market. Breaking down the data by city, prices fell in Beijing by 4.1% (compared to a 4.3% decrease in May), Guangzhou by 5.1% (down from 5.8%), Shenzhen by 2.5% (versus 2.6%), Tianjin by 1.8% (previously 2.0%), and Chongqing by 2.9% (compared to 3.2%). Conversely, Shanghai saw a continued increase in prices, up to 6.0% from 5.9%. However, on a month-to-month basis, new home prices decreased by 0.3% in June, following a 0.2% decrease in May, continuing the downturn that started in May 2023.
