In June 2025, China's surveyed unemployment rate remained steady at 5.0%, consistent with both the previous month's figures and market predictions. This rate represents the lowest since November of the prior year. More specifically, the unemployment rate among the locally registered labor force was recorded at 5.1%, while the non-locally registered labor force experienced a slightly lower rate of 4.8%. Within this category, those with non-local agricultural household registration also had an unemployment rate of 4.8%. Across the nation, the urban surveyed unemployment rate in 31 major cities was also recorded at 5.0%. In terms of working hours, the average weekly hours for enterprise employees nationwide increased to 48.5. By the end of the second quarter, the migrant rural labor force reached 191.39 million, marking a 0.7% increase compared to the previous year. Overall, for the first half of the year, the national urban surveyed unemployment rate averaged 5.2%.
