In May 2025, Romania witnessed a 3.7% increase in industrial production compared to the same month the previous year. This marks a recovery from a downwardly revised 2.1% decline in April, representing the first growth observed in four months and the most robust performance since May 2022. The mining sector rebounded with a 0.5% growth, compared to a 3.2% drop in April, and manufacturing output also saw an improvement, rising by 4.1% following a 2.7% decrease previously. The production of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply accelerated its growth rate, climbing by 7% from the previous 3.6%. However, on a month-to-month basis, industrial activity experienced a slight decline of 0.6% in May after a revised 2.6% increase in the prior period.
