In June 2025, Slovakia's annual inflation rate rose to 4.3%, up from 4.1% in May, marking the highest inflation level since December 2023. The increase was driven by rising prices in several key sectors: food and non-alcoholic beverages experienced a rise from 3.9% to 4.2%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco climbed from 4.9% to 5.3%, while clothing and footwear edged up slightly from 3.4% to 3.5%. Additionally, health sector costs increased from 2% to 2.4%, transport jumped significantly from 0.1% to 2.6%, and restaurant and hotel prices escalated from 8.8% to 9.5%. Conversely, prices for housing and utilities moderated a bit from 2.8% to 2.6%, furnishings and routine household maintenance dropped from 3.5% to 3%, as did the recreation and culture sector from 5% to 4.9%. Education costs saw a slight decline from 10.2% to 10%, and miscellaneous goods and services decreased from 6.5% to 6.2%. Notably, communication prices held steady at 6.1%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices increased by 0.2% in June, a slowdown from the 0.5% growth observed in May.
