Belgium experienced a 0.9% decline in construction output in May 2025, compared to the same month the previous year. This marks a shift from the revised 6.2% growth noted in April. The downturn was evident across all sectors: building construction fell by 1.4%, contrasting with April's 4.2% growth; civil engineering works decreased by 0.5%, down from 4.9%; and specialized construction activities dropped by 0.7%, after previously rising by 6.1%. Month-on-month, and seasonally adjusted, construction activity fell by 1.8% in May following a revision that saw April's activity rise by 1.4%.
