In June 2025, Austria experienced a rise in its annual inflation rate to 3.3%, up from 3% in May, according to preliminary estimates. This increase marks the highest inflation level since May of the previous year. The primary contributors to this rise were the costs associated with food and non-alcoholic beverages, reaching an elevated rate not seen since October 2024 (4.7%, compared to 3.5% in May). Furthermore, there was a notable acceleration in the prices of furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance (0.3% from a previous decrease of -0.6%), as well as transport (0.3% from -1%). Meanwhile, the decline in prices for communication slowed (-5.9% compared to -6%). Conversely, the inflation rate eased in the sectors of health (4.5% down from 5%) and education (4.8% down from 5.1%), and it decreased further in clothing and footwear (-3.2% from -1.5%). On a monthly scale, consumer prices rose by 0.5% in June, aligning with forecasts, reversing from a 0.1% drop in the previous period.
