In May 2025, Bulgaria’s current account deficit reduced to €131.9 million, a significant decrease from the €304.2 million recorded in the same month of the previous year. This improvement is largely due to an increase in the secondary income surplus—which encompasses remittances and other current transfers—rising to €97.4 million from €94.1 million in May 2024. Additionally, the services surplus saw growth, reaching €624.4 million compared to €552.2 million previously, while the goods trade deficit shrank to €434.7 million from €460.9 million. Furthermore, the primary income deficit improved, narrowing to €419 million from €568.8 million.
