Albania Trade Deficit Narrows in June

In June 2025, Albania experienced a reduction in its trade deficit, which tightened to ALL 41.1 billion from the previous year's figure of ALL 42.0 billion. This improvement was attributed to a 1.9% increase in exports, reaching ALL 35.3 billion, while imports saw a slight decrease of 0.2%, totaling ALL 76.7 billion. The rise in exports was bolstered by significant gains in the sales of minerals, fuels, electricity (up 9.7 percentage points) and food, beverages, and tobacco (up 3.1 percentage points). However, this was partly offset by a downturn in construction materials and metals (down 6.2 percentage points). Notable export growth was observed towards Kosovo (+64.8%), Germany (+39.6%), Greece (+18.1%), and the United States (+21.8%), whereas exports to Italy (-6.2%), Spain (-19.3%), and North Macedonia (-21.6%) declined. On the import front, reductions in construction materials and metals (down 1.9 percentage points) and minerals, fuels, electricity (down 0.6 percentage points) were somewhat counterbalanced by increased imports of machinery, equipment, and spare parts (up 2.6 percentage points) and food, beverages, and tobacco (up 0.7 percentage points). Notably, imports decreased from Italy (-5.5%), Turkey (-12.1%), and the United States (-4.0%), but rose from China (+29.9%), Greece (+1.3%), and Germany (+4.3%).
