Permits specifically for structures comprising five or more units saw a significant uptick of 8.1%, reaching an annualized rate of 478,000. In contrast, permits for single-family homes decreased by 3.7%, totaling 866,000. Examining the regional breakdown, there was a 4.4% increase in the South, bringing the total to 775,000, while the Midwest remained stable at 217,000.
