Week Ahead - July 21st

Next week, the markets will stay vigilant about trade developments and any possible agreements between the United States and its primary trade partners. The US earnings season is set to take center stage, with major enterprises such as Alphabet, Tesla, Verizon, Coca-Cola, T-Mobile, and IBM scheduled to release their quarterly earnings. Economically, important US data will be released, including preliminary S&P Global PMI figures, durable goods orders, and both existing and new home sales reports. On the global scale, monetary policy announcements from the European Central Bank, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, and the Central Bank of Turkey will be under the spotlight. Market participants will also be keenly observing a variety of international indicators. These include initial PMI statistics for the Eurozone, Germany, Japan, India, the UK, and France; GfK consumer confidence surveys for Germany and the UK; the Ifo business climate index in Germany; UK retail sales data; and the Tokyo Consumer Price Index report. Lastly, the results of Japan's upper house election will be of significant interest to investors.
