Norway June Retail Sales Stall

In June 2025, retail sales in Norway remained flat on a month-to-month comparison, following a slight upward revision of a 0.1% increase recorded in May. This stagnation can be attributed to reduced sales in several areas: ICT equipment dropped by 0.6% (compared to a significant 6.2% decrease in May), sales of other household equipment declined by 0.2% (compared to a 3.0% increase), food and beverage sales fell by 0.5% (down from a 1.0% rise), and other goods experienced a decrease of 1.2% (from a previous 0.2% increase). However, certain segments experienced growth that helped offset these declines, including sales not conducted in traditional stores or stalls, which surged by 4.4% (recovering from a 2.4% fall), and automotive fuel sales, which rose by 0.9% (compared to a 1.7% decline). On an annual basis, retail activity showed a 4.3% increase in June.
