Retail sales in Latvia experienced a 1.4% increase year-on-year in June 2025, bouncing back from a 2% decline the previous month. This represents the most robust expansion in retail activity since December 2024, primarily fueled by a notable rise in non-food products, which surged by 5.9% compared to a 0.1% decrease in May. Significant gains were particularly observed in the retail sectors of hardware, tools, construction materials, and sanitary equipment, which grew by 11.7%, alongside the sale of ICT equipment (11.0%) and household appliances (10.8%). Meanwhile, the rate of decline in food products and automotive fuel sales slowed, with food products decreasing by 3.6% compared to 1.3% the previous month, and automotive fuel slipping by 0.7% versus 1.3%. On a monthly scale, retail trade increased by 0.7% in June, rebounding from a 0.7% decrease in the earlier period.
