Australia Private Credit Growth Beats Expectations in June

In June 2025, credit extended to Australia's private sector increased by 0.6% compared to the previous month, maintaining the same growth rate as May and surpassing market expectations of a 0.5% rise. This upward trend was primarily driven by a boost in personal credit, which surged by 0.8% after a 0.6% increase in the prior month. Both housing and business lending experienced consistent growth, with each witnessing a 0.5% rise in June. On an annual basis, private sector credit grew by 6.8%, showing a slight deceleration from the 6.9% growth recorded in May.
