In June 2025, private house approvals in Australia decreased by 2% from the previous month, totaling 9,142 units, as reported in preliminary estimates. This decline follows a revised 1% drop in May. The reduction in approvals was observed across most states, with Queensland experiencing the largest decrease at 6.3%, followed by South Australia with a 2.6% decline, New South Wales falling by 2.4%, and Western Australia down by 1.5%. Victoria was the exception, seeing an increase of 1.4%. On a year-on-year basis, private house permits saw a modest increase of 0.2%, a slowdown from a 2.2% growth in May. Conversely, approvals for private sector dwellings excluding houses saw a significant rise of 33.1% in June, up from a 10.3% increase in the prior month.
