Brazil Adds 166K Jobs in June

In June 2025, Brazil saw an increase of 166,621 formal jobs, a rise of 8.77% compared to May, though this figure represented a 19.2% decline from the same month the previous year. This June marked the second-lowest job growth for the month in the historical records, surpassing only June 2020. All key economic sectors recorded job gains, with services leading the way with an increase of 77,057 positions, followed by trade with 32,938, and agriculture with 25,833 new jobs. Industry and construction sectors also contributed with 20,105 and 10,665 new roles respectively. Positive employment figures were observed in 26 out of Brazil's 27 states, with São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro showing the most significant increases. Over the first six months of 2025, Brazil generated 1.22 million formal jobs, marking the most robust first-half performance since 2024. Additionally, the average real wage in June reached R$2,278.37, reflecting an increase of 1.09% compared to May and a 1.28% rise from the previous year.
