In June 2025, household spending in Australia experienced a month-on-month growth of 0.5%, following a slightly higher increase of 1.0% in May. This marks the second month in a row of rising expenditures. In particular, spending increased in various sectors: clothing and footwear saw a 1.6% rise (compared to 3.7% previously), furnishings surged by 2.0% (up from 0.6%), recreation went up by 1.0% (from 0.5%), and miscellaneous goods and services rose by 0.6% (after a 1.3% increase). Across the regions, seven out of eight states and territories reported increased spending, with notable rises in the Northern Territory (up by 1.3%) and New South Wales (up by 1.1%). Annually, personal expenditures saw a robust growth of 4.8%, representing the highest year-on-year increase since January 2024.
