Car sales in Indonesia experienced an 18.4% decline year-on-year, reaching 60,552 units in July 2025, as reported by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO). This decrease follows a 22.6% drop in the previous month, indicating a continuing downward trend over the past three months and highlighting growing concerns within the nation's automotive sector. Despite these challenges, GAIKINDO maintains its forecast of 2025 car sales ranging from 750,000 to 900,000 units, surpassing the 2024 estimate of 850,000. However, GAIKINDO concedes that this target might be adjusted downward, given the sales slump witnessed in the first half of the year. On a brighter note, sales increased by 4.8% month-on-month, bolstered by the enthusiasm and demand spurred by the GIIAS 2025 auto show. From January to July, total sales amounted to 435,390 units, reflecting a 10.1% decrease compared to the same period last year.
