In July 2025, Portugal experienced a rise in its annual inflation rate, reaching 2.6%, up from 2.4% in the previous month, as reported in the initial estimate. This marked the highest inflation level since the beginning of the year. A significant rise was noted in the prices of unprocessed food, which increased to 6.2% from 4.7%, offsetting the stable inflation rate for processed food, which remained at 1.3%. The core inflation index, excluding energy and unprocessed food components, showed a slight uptick to 2.5% from June's 2.4%. Concurrently, the EU-harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) saw an increase to 2.5% from the previous 2.1%.
