In the second quarter of 2025, Australia experienced a 2.4% increase in the value of new owner-occupier loan commitments for dwellings, bringing the total to AUD 54.7 billion. This marks a turnaround from the previous quarter's revised decline of 1.8%, driven by increases among both first-home buyers, who rose by 5.7%, and non-first-home buyers, who saw a 4.4% increase. Annually, these loans increased significantly by 7.4%. Additionally, investment lending for homes also saw growth, rising by 1.4% to AUD 32.9 billion, rebounding from a previously flat performance. On a year-over-year basis, investment lending exhibited a rise of 6.9%.
