In June 2025, Brazil's retail sales experienced a slight decrease of 0.1% from the previous month, following a 0.2% decline in May. This marks the third consecutive month of declining sales figures. Volumes dropped across five out of eight sectors, with notable declines in office equipment, IT, and communication, which fell by 2.7% compared to a previous rise of 3%. Similarly, sales in books, newspapers, magazines, and stationery fell by 1.5%, improving slightly from the earlier decline of 2%. The furniture and household appliances sector saw a 1.2% decrease, reversing a previous growth of 1.9%. The pharmaceutical, medical, orthopedic, and perfumery products category declined by 0.9%, down from a previous increase of 1.6%. Hypermarkets, supermarkets, food, beverages, and tobacco experienced a 0.5% drop, as opposed to no change earlier. However, some sectors did see improvements: other personal and household goods rose by 1%, textiles, apparel, and footwear increased by 0.5%, and fuels and lubricants saw a slight growth of 0.3%, rebounding from a previous 1.5% decline. On a year-on-year basis, sales rose by 0.3%, which was lower than the 2.1% increase recorded in May.
