In June 2025, Japan's industrial production experienced a 2.1% increase on a month-over-month basis, surpassing initial estimates of a 1.7% rise and recovering from a 0.1% decline in the previous month. This marks the first growth since March and represents the quickest rate of expansion in four months. The increase was largely driven by significant recoveries in segments such as transport equipment (excluding motor vehicles), which soared by 16.9% following a 19.2% drop in May. Additionally, electronic parts and devices showed a robust improvement, climbing 8.8% compared to a 14.8% decrease previously. General-purpose and business-oriented machinery also contributed to the positive trend with a 1.6% increase, up from a 4.4% decline. On an annual scale, industrial output jumped 4.4%, a significant rebound from a 2.4% decrease in May and the most substantial yearly growth recorded since September 2022.
