Kyrgyzstan Inflation Hits 21-Month High

In July 2025, Kyrgyzstan observed an increase in its annual inflation rate to 8.8%, up from the consistent 8.0% seen in the prior two months. This is the highest inflation level since October 2023. The escalation was primarily due to price surges in food and non-alcoholic beverages, which rose to 11.5% from 10.2% in June. Transport costs jumped to 5.4% from 2.4%, while recreation and culture experienced an increase to 6.4% from 5.4%. Prices in restaurants and hotels went up to 2.1% from 1.8%, health costs increased to 7.8% from 7.6%, and miscellaneous goods and services saw a rise to 3.0% from 2.4%. Conversely, there was a deceleration in price growth for housing and utilities, which dipped to 13.3% from 14.1%, clothing and footwear slightly decreased to 2.0% from 2.1%, and education costs slightly dropped to 24.2% from 24.4%. Communication costs remained unchanged at -0.1%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices climbed by 0.6% in July, following a 0.7% increase in June.
