Canada Wholesale Sales Pick Up in June

In June 2025, wholesale sales in Canada experienced a 0.7% increase, reaching C$84.7 billion, following a stagnant period in May. Sales saw growth in four out of the seven subsectors, which collectively represent 54.2% of total wholesale trade. The most significant advancements were noted in the food, beverage, and tobacco sectors, which rose by 1.7% to C$15.6 billion, and in the miscellaneous goods sector, which grew by 2.4% to C$10.7 billion. The survey highlighted that 33.6% of wholesalers were impacted by trade tensions between Canada and the US during June, with all subsectors experiencing some effects. The machinery, equipment, and supplies subsector had the highest proportion of businesses affected, largely due to price increases and demand fluctuations. Compared to the same period the previous year, wholesale sales were up by 3.2%. When adjusted for volume, wholesale sales increased by 0.6% in June.
