Mongolia's gross domestic product (GDP) surged by 5.6% in the second quarter of 2025, up notably from the 2.4% increase observed in the previous quarter. This represented the most robust economic growth since the same quarter the year prior, primarily fueled by impressive performance in the agricultural sector, which expanded by 3.6% compared to 1% in the first quarter. Furthermore, there was a noticeable uptick in the industry and construction sectors, with a growth of 1% compared to the previous 0.4%, mainly due to developments in construction. However, the services sector saw a more modest growth of 0.7% against 1.2% in the prior quarter, with continued declines in wholesale and retail (-0.7% versus -0.6%) and transportation (-0.6% versus -1.2%). Other services experienced slower growth, decreasing to 1.4% from 2.4%. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the economy expanded by 1.6% in the second quarter, following a 0.4% growth in the earlier quarter.
