Thailand has given the green light to a support plan aimed at aiding off-season rice farmers during 2025, in response to the challenges posed by weak global prices. This initiative will entail direct financial assistance and loan guarantees, with THB 7.28 billion earmarked for the 2025 off-season crop. This measure is set to benefit approximately 861,000 farming households. For the main crop season of 2025/2026, an additional THB 37.9 billion will be allocated. Furthermore, the government has sanctioned a paddy price stabilization program for the 2025/2026 production year, setting aside a budget of THB 61.6 billion. As one of the world's leading rice producers and exporters, following China and India, Thailand holds the fifth-largest global land area devoted to rice cultivation.
