Consumer prices in Brazil decreased by 0.14% in the first half of August, marking a shift from the 0.33% increase observed in July and falling short of market predictions of a 0.19% drop. Among the nine categories evaluated, four experienced price reductions. Housing recorded the most significant decline at 1.13%, followed by food and beverages at 0.53%, transport at 0.47%, and communication at 0.17%. Conversely, there were price increases in personal expenses at 1.09%, education at 0.78%, and healthcare at 0.64%. The annual mid-month inflation rate eased to 4.95% from the 5.3% noted in July, slightly exceeding the anticipated 4.91%.
