US Logistics Growth Improves Marginally

The Logistics Manager’s Index in the United States experienced a slight increase, reaching 59.3 in August 2025, up from 59.2 in July. This rise was primarily driven by factors related to inventory and warehousing. There was a notable escalation in Inventory Level expansion, which rose by 2.7 to reach 58.2. This increase subsequently led to higher Inventory Costs, which surged by 7.3, reaching 79.2, and Warehousing Prices, which grew by 3.9 to hit 72.2. However, the expansion of Warehousing Capacity slowed down slightly, decreasing by 0.6 to 50.5. Conversely, transportation metrics exerted downward pressure. Transportation Prices saw a significant decline, dropping by 6.9 to 56.1, and Transportation Utilization fell by 4.8 to 54.7. Meanwhile, available Transportation Capacity rose by 4.7, reaching 57.3. While these shifts are not dramatic individually, the faster expansion of Transportation Capacity compared to Transportation Prices signals a minor negative freight inversion, which is noteworthy.
