In the second quarter of 2025, Brazil's gross domestic product rose by 2.2% compared to the same period the previous year. This marks a deceleration from the 2.9% growth observed in the first quarter and is generally in line with market predictions. This represents the slowest growth rate in over three years and highlights the increasing effects of high interest rates imposed by the central bank, which are among the highest globally in real terms. Inflation continues to weigh heavily on consumer purchasing power. The utilities sector saw a contraction of 4% year-on-year, and manufacturing showed no growth.
