FX.co ★ Sri Lanka Tourist Arrivals Up 20.4% in August

In August 2025, the number of foreign tourists visiting Sri Lanka experienced a significant year-on-year increase of 20.4%, totaling 198,235 arrivals. This follows a 6.6% growth in the previous month. India remained the leading source of tourists, contributing 23.4% of arrivals, followed by the United Kingdom at 10%, Germany at 6.3%, and both China and Italy each at 6.2%. For the January to August timeframe, foreign tourist numbers rose by 15% compared to the same period last year, reaching a total of 1,566,523. However, on a monthly basis, there was a slight decline in arrivals, falling by 1%.
