In July 2025, Romania's trade deficit decreased to EUR 2.64 billion, down from EUR 2.94 billion in July of the previous year. This improvement was driven by a 7% year-on-year rise in exports, totaling EUR 8.9 billion. A notable 10.2% increase in sales to EU countries offset a 0.5% drop in exports to non-EU countries. On the import side, there was a more modest growth of 2.4%, leading to a total of EUR 11.5 billion. Imports from EU countries grew by 4.2%, while those from non-EU countries declined by 1.7%. However, during the first seven months of the year, the trade deficit expanded to EUR 19.31 billion, marking an increase of EUR 1.3 billion from the same period in the previous year. This was due to exports rising by 3.7% and imports increasing by 4.9%.
