In August 2025, Oman's annual inflation rate decreased to 0.5%, the lowest recorded since November 2024, down from 0.8% in July. This reduction was mainly attributed to ongoing deflation in the food and non-alcoholic beverages sector, which saw a decrease of 1.8% compared to 1.4% in July. Additionally, prices continued to decline in the recreation and culture sector by 0.2%, and in furnishings and household maintenance by 0.1%. The slowdown in inflation was further influenced by a significant decrease in transport inflation, which dropped to 2.7% from 4%, and in miscellaneous goods and services, which fell to 5.3% from 6.5%. Conversely, the price growth for restaurants and hotels remained stable at 2.5%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped by 0.5%, reversing a previous increase of 0.2%.
