Argentina Inflation Rises Below Estimates

Inflation rates in Argentina increased by 1.9% in August 2025, making a recovery from the recent low of 1.5% recorded in May - the lowest recorded rate since May 2020. This figure was just below the market's predicted increase of 2%. The inflation hike was driven primarily by increased costs in transportation (3.6%), education (2.5%), housing and utilities (2.7%), and healthcare (1.7%).

There was, however, a slowdown in certain sectors, such as food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.4%), restaurants and hotels (1.9%) as well as communications (1.9%). The clothing and footwear sector also experienced a reduction in prices, albeit a smaller one, with a decrease of 0.3%.

Looking at the annual inflation rate, there was a 33.6% increase in consumer prices, signifying a shift towards disinflation. It represented the lowest annual increase since July 2018 in comparison to July's rate, which was 36.6%.
