In August 2025, Romania experienced an increase in its annual inflation rate, reaching 9.85%, up from 7.84% in July. This marks the highest inflation rate noted since June 2023. The surge was attributed to rising prices across all major categories: food items saw an increase to 8.92% from 7.67% in the prior month, non-food products jumped to 10.48% from 8.18%, and services climbed to 9.85% from 7.33%. On a month-to-month comparison, consumer prices witnessed a 2.10% upturn in August, slightly lower than the 2.68% increase observed in July.
