Gold production in South Africa experienced a slight decline of 0.4% in July 2025 compared to the previous year, following two months of consecutive growth. This decrease comes after a downwardly revised increase of 2.9% in June. The decline in gold production contributed negatively, reducing the overall yearly growth in total mining output by 0.1 percentage point. However, when adjusted for seasonal variations, gold output actually increased by 0.9% in July, rebounding from a revised 1.6% decrease in June.
