Palestine Inflation Rises for 6th Month

In August 2025, consumer prices in Palestine increased by 35.46% compared to the same month the previous year, reflecting a decrease from the 59.35% rise recorded in July. Nevertheless, this represents the sixth consecutive month of heightened inflation, predominantly fueled by a significant 78.02% price escalation in the Gaza Strip due to ongoing Israeli tensions. The most notable increases were observed in the categories of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which surged by 112.13%; housing and utilities, which rose by 168.69%; transport, with a 24.2% increase; and personal care along with social protection and various other goods and services, which climbed by 11.63%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices experienced a decline of 13.53% in August, counteracting the 3.78% increase seen in July, with Gaza witnessing a notable monthly decrease of 20.34%.
