In the second quarter of 2025, Malta's unemployment rate decreased to 2.7%, down from 3.2% in the same quarter the previous year. The number of unemployed individuals decreased by 404 on a year-on-year basis, bringing the total to 9,978. Additionally, the count of inactive persons also fell by 749, reaching 163,517. Concurrently, the employment rate saw an increase, rising to 79.9% from 78.5%, as there was a substantial rise in the number of employed individuals by 14,187, bringing the total to 329,334. The activity rate for the quarter improved to 82.3% compared to 81.1% a year prior, with the age group of 25 to 54 years recording the highest activity rate at 91.7%.
