Brazil Unemployment Falls to Record Low

Brazil's unemployment rate declined to 5.6% for the moving quarter ending in July 2025, a decrease from the previous 5.8% and marginally below market predictions of 5.7%. This represents the lowest unemployment level since the dataset's inception in 2012. The number of unemployed individuals fell to 6.1 million, the lowest since late 2013, while the employed population reached an unprecedented high of 102.4 million. The employment-to-population ratio maintained its record level of 58.8%. Job expansion was primarily seen in the agriculture sector, which gained 206,000 jobs, information and professional services, which added 260,000 positions, and public administration, education, health, and social services, which saw an increase of 522,000 jobs. Concurrently, average real earnings increased by 1.3%, reaching R$3,484.
