On Tuesday, President Donald Trump disclosed an agreement between the United States and China designed to allow TikTok to continue operations within the US. According to three individuals familiar with the situation, this deal bears resemblance to a previously discussed proposal, as reported by Reuters. The agreement stipulates the transfer of TikTok's American assets from China's ByteDance to US ownership, potentially bringing resolution to an issue that has persisted for nearly a year. "We have a deal on TikTok... We have a group of very big companies that want to buy it," Trump remarked during a White House briefing, though he did not elaborate further. This announcement came just one day ahead of the original September 17 deadline for either the sale or shutdown of the popular video-sharing app. However, the White House subsequently extended this deadline to December 16, granting ByteDance an additional 90 days to complete a transfer of TikTok's American assets to US proprietors. The White House has refrained from offering any more specifics regarding the agreement with China.
