In August 2025, Morocco's annual inflation rate decelerated to 0.3%, down from the 0.5% figure recorded in July, which was a peak for the previous three months. This slowdown takes inflation to its lowest point since April 2024. A significant factor in this trend was the moderation in the rise of food and non-alcoholic beverage costs, which increased by a mere 0.2%—the smallest rise since May 2024, a period that saw a 1.3% decrease in food prices. This contrasts with the 0.9% uptick experienced in July. Other areas also saw easing inflation, including furnishings, which recorded a rise of 0.6% compared to 0.8%, and restaurants and hotels, where inflation fell from 3.4% to 2.9%. Meanwhile, inflation rates remained stable for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.5%), housing and utilities (0.6%), healthcare (0.2%), and education (2.3%). Conversely, there was an increase in the inflation rate for clothing and footwear, which rose to 0.9% from 0.7%, and for miscellaneous goods and services, which increased to 1.6% from 1.5%. Additionally, transportation costs experienced a smaller decline, dropping by 2.4% compared to a 2.9% decrease in July. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices rose by 0.5% in August, recovering from a 0.1% drop in July and marking the swiftest monthly growth in a seven-month span.
