China Infrastructure Output Rises Most in 1 Year

In August 2025, India's infrastructure output experienced a growth of 6.3% compared to the same month the previous year, marking a considerable acceleration from the revised 3.2% increase observed in July. This represents the fastest growth rate seen in a year. The expansion in infrastructure production was largely fueled by a strong performance in the coal sector, which rose by 11.4% following a decline of 12.3% in July. Likewise, the steel and cement industries showed positive growth rates, with steel increasing by 14.2% compared to 16.6% previously, and cement rising by 6.1%, down from an 11.6% jump. This surge occurred as companies ramped up production capacity in anticipation of the more stringent tariffs due to be implemented by the US by the end of the month. Concurrently, Chinese competitors reduced their material capacity, influenced by Beijing's initiative for improving air quality during their military parade. In the petroleum sector, there was a notable recovery in refinery products, which grew by 3% after a decline of 1.1%, while natural gas and crude oil outputs contracted by 2.2% and 1.2%, respectively, following previous decreases of 3.2% and 1.3%.
