Germany's GfK Consumer Climate Indicator inched up to -22.3 as October 2025 approached, from a slightly revised -23.5 in the prior period. This slight improvement exceeded market expectations of -23.3. The income outlook saw a substantial boost, increasing to 15.1 from 4.1 in September, marking gains for the second consecutive month. However, economic expectations continued their downward trend for the third consecutive period, falling to -1.4 from 2.7. Additionally, consumer willingness to buy declined for the fourth straight month, dipping to -11.6 from -10.1. Meanwhile, the propensity to save saw a minor increase, rising to 16.1 from 15.8. "The current geopolitical climate, job-related concerns, and growing inflation worries are likely barriers to a full economic recovery at present," remarked Rolf Bürkl, Head of Consumer Climate at NIM.
