In August 2025, Norway experienced an increase in its seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, reaching 4.9%, up from 4.5% in July. The number of unemployed individuals rose by 16,000 compared to the previous month, totaling 152,000. Concurrently, the employment rate saw an uptick, climbing to 70% from 69.7% in July, as the workforce expanded by 14,000, bringing the number of employed individuals to 2.92 million. Furthermore, the labor force participation rate increased to 73.7% in August from 72.9% the month before. Notably, youth unemployment, which tracks job seekers aged 15 to 24, surged to a record high of 18.5%, a significant rise from the previous 13.8%.
