In the period from June to August 2025, Hungary experienced a slight increase in its unemployment rate, rising to 4.4% from 4.3% compared to the same timeframe the previous year. The total count of unemployed individuals rose by 5,400 year-over-year, reaching 216,600. This group included 114,500 men, resulting in a male unemployment rate of 4.4%, and 102,100 women, whose unemployment rate also stood at 4.4%. On average, the duration spent seeking employment was 11.1 months. Within this unemployed population, 45.6% of individuals were job hunting for less than three months, whereas 29.6% had been searching for at least a year. Concurrently, the number of employed persons saw a reduction, declining by 36,400 to a total of 4.679 million. Employment among men decreased by 21,500, reaching a figure of 2.479 million, while employment among women dropped by 14,900, totaling 2.200 million.
