DAX Edges Lower

On Thursday, the DAX index in Frankfurt experienced a decline of 0.5%, settling around the 23,500 mark. This downward movement came as investors assessed the potential impact of new US tariffs and awaited significant economic data alongside insights from Federal Reserve officials. In terms of domestic figures, Germany's GfK consumer climate index showed a slight improvement in October, beating expectations but still remaining below zero. Among sectors, healthcare, construction and materials, and industrial stocks performed poorly. Siemens Healthineers, a German medical technology company, saw its shares drop nearly 6% following news that the US administration initiated a fresh national security investigation into imports of robotics, medical equipment, and industrial machinery. Other notable decliners included Siemens Energy, down by 3%, Siemens at 1.5% lower, Heidelberg Materials with a 1.4% decrease, Rheinmetall falling by 1.1%, and both Brenntag and Merck shedding 0.9%.
