In the second quarter of 2025, Hungary experienced a significant increase in its current account surplus, reaching EUR 1.39 billion, compared to EUR 0.08 billion in the same period the previous year. This notable enhancement was primarily driven by an increased surplus in services, which climbed to EUR 2.84 billion from EUR 2.37 billion the previous year. Meanwhile, the goods account showed a positive shift, recording a EUR 0.09 billion surplus instead of a EUR 0.54 billion deficit from the year before. Additionally, secondary income saw a recovery, achieving a EUR 0.20 billion surplus, as opposed to a EUR 0.32 billion deficit. However, the primary income deficit continued to expand, reaching EUR 1.73 billion, up from EUR 1.43 billion in the second quarter of 2024.
