In September 2025, business confidence in the Netherlands improved significantly, climbing to -1.6 from -3.3 in August. This is the most positive sentiment recorded since March and is edging closer to the 20-year norm of -1.3. Manufacturers demonstrated increased optimism regarding anticipated production in the upcoming three months, with figures rising to 9.4 from 6.1 in August. Evaluations concerning inventories of finished goods (now at -5.4 from -6.9) and order books (improving to -8.9 from -9.1) also showed reduced pessimism. Confidence levels rose in approximately two-thirds of the sectors examined. The most optimistic outlooks were observed among industries involved in machinery repair and installation, as well as furniture manufacturing, while the paper and graphics industry was notably more pessimistic.
