The KOF Economic Barometer in Switzerland increased in September 2025, reaching a value of 98, up from a downwardly revised 96.2 in August, and exceeding market forecasts of 97.3. On the production front, indicators for both the manufacturing sector and financial and insurance services signaled an optimistic outlook. Within the producing sector, which includes manufacturing and construction, sub-indicators for exports and the overall business climate demonstrated particularly promising developments. Specifically, in manufacturing, significant advancements were observed in the wood, glass, stone and earth sectors, as well as in paper and printing products, and the electrical industry. Conversely, on the demand side, indicators for foreign demand showed signs of weakening, while the prospects for private consumption remained stable.
